When you start working on a budget for your family, one of the first things you need to do is estimate your income. Before you can make a wise plan, you need to know how much money you have coming in.
When the money you receive is irregular, make an estimate based on your previous income and current resources. If your income is seasonal, or commission-based like a salesman, or if you are self-employed then play it safe by making two estimates.
Work out the smallest and largest amounts you can reasonably expect. Plan first on the lower amount. Then think about how you will use the additional amounts.
