Pay Yourself First
Whatever your financial situation may be, pay yourself first. This is the advice of the experts. I think that this is a good idea. Of course there are situations where you don't have any money coming in at all. But in most situations if you pay yourself first you will eventually have a nest egg saved up. If you pay the mortgage, the car payment, credit card bills, and everybody else first, you won't get anywhere.
Some ways to do this is by having a pretax retirement account like a 401k account or IRAs. Or perhaps have a certain amount of your paycheck taken out by a credit union.
Start by saving 1%. Then in a few months, go up to 2 or 3%. Then think about investing it. Research and see where you can get the most percentage on your money. Getting started is the hardest part.
