Working on a Family Budget

When working on a budget for your family, you need to think about money for major expenses and future goals. The secret is to earmark the money BEFORE you spend your income. If you wait until the end of the week or month, you may have very little if anything left to set aside.

Some large expenses occur seasonally. These could include taxes on your home, personal property, and income; school supplies; life or other insurance; trips. And other expenses like car tags, medical check-ups, or Christmas gifts. Setting a little aside on a regular basis before you spend your paycheck can help with the big expenses.
