More Tips for Getting out Stains

Getting stains out can be difficult. Below are five tips for getting out stains.

  1. Mildew: Use lemon juice and salt, or withe vinegar and salt. Place the garment out in the sun. Wash as usual, but wash separately.
  2. Mustard: Use white vinegar or hydrogen peroxide (never ammonia). Wash as usual.
  3. Nail polish: Sponge with polish remover then wash. Wash again. Don't use polish remover on acetate or triacetate fabrics. Always test an inconspicuous place on the garment first.
  4. Soft drinks: Sponge right away with cold water and rubbing alcohol.
  5. Urine: Blot with a solution of white vinegar and water.
These tips are from the book "How to Save Money Every Day" by Ellie Kay.
