If you don't have health insurance, perscriptions can be pretty expensive. Even over the counter meds can eat a whole in your wallet. One thing I have found is that different pharmacies charge different prices for perscriptions. Sometimes the difference may be five dollars and sometimes a whole lot more.
Here is four tips to save money on perscription meds:
- Ask your doctor if he can give you the least expensive perscription that will do the job. Sometimes changing the perscriptions can save you some money.
- Call different pharmacies and check their prices on each perscription. I have found that a pharmacy may be cheaper on one perscription and higher on another. It pays to check around for each perscription.
- Ask the pharmacist if it is cheaper to buy a three month supply on the perscriptions that you use regularly. Sometimes you can save quite a bit this way.
- Check Walmart to see if a perscription is in the $4 program.
It is amazing to me to see the different perscription prices that you can get. It pays to shop around. Calling before hand can save you a small bundle.
